Verse 1 Don’t care about the money, don’t care about the fame Don’t want to storm the charts’, that’s not my game Just want it heavy, and louder than hell Don’t want to win awards, can’t you tell Pre-Chorus Metal is metal, at the end of the day Old-school or modern, keeps the men in suits at bay Metal is metal, wouldn’t want it any other way Power or thrash, don’t care what they say 'cause... Chorus I’m on the edge of reality Banging my head till it all goes black Caught in a moment of insanity Now it’s too late and there’s no going back Verse 2 Don’t care about the t-shirts, don’t care about the TV Don’t want to feature on the news, that’s not for me Just want to play guitar, as fast as I can Don’t want to be controlled, I’m my own man Pre-Chorus Metal is metal, at the end of the day Old-school or modern, keeps the men in suits at bay Metal is metal, wouldn’t want it any other way Power or thrash, don’t care what they say, 'cause... Repeat Chorus x2 'Cause metal is metal! x4

Verse 1 A long time ago when I was so carefree I made mistakes ‘cause I was too blind to see I got sent to prison to pay my dues Please wait for me out there I’ve got nothing left to lose Pre-Chorus I’m biding my time Until you tell me when I ask you my love When will I see you again? Chorus Lethal devotion (for one I can’t see) I’m left with confusion (you’re not by my side) Too much emotion (is building in me) Beyond the illusion, there’s no place to hide Verse 2 When I get out I will hold you once more I’ll spend my whole life waiting by your door I’ll care for you always in my own special way Don’t want anyone else no matter what you say Repeat Pre-Chorus Chorus [Extended] Lethal devotion (for one I can’t see) I’m left with confusion (you’re not by my side) Too much emotion (is building in me) Beyond the illusion, there’s no place to hide Lethal devotion (is what it must be) I’m left with confusion (while I’m stuck inside) Too much emotion (it’s easy to see) Beyond the illusion, I know that you lied! Bridge On that fateful day It was true love at first write I knew back then you’d never change You’d never see the light. But on that very special day The truth was clear to me I knew I had to have you And that we were meant to be! Verse 3 Now that I’m free I know what I’m going to do Got nothing but a name but I will find you Might take me years but I’ll search everyday And if you don’t want me I’ll search anyway Repeat Pre-Chorus Repeat Chorus [Extended]

Verse 1 I’m lost again, alone No chance of rescue I’m in trouble, no hope Nowhere to run to Why do I always Have to see such pain? And why am I always The only option? Chorus I’m waiting for the day When I can rest in peace I’m searching for some way To put an end to the killing I’m hoping that some time I’ll finally get released But 'til then I’ll keep fighting I am the last man standing Verse 2 I’m left behind, abandoned No second chances I’m in danger, no friends No reinforcements Why do I always Have to fight alone? And why am I always The lone survivor? Verse 3 I’m saved at last, I’m rescued From the battlefield I’m in luck, my hardship Is over now But why do I always Have to be the last? And why am I always The only one rescued? Repeat Chorus
4.
Verse 1 Started by the Sarafan To rid Nosgoth of vampires A holy war vengeance for The murder of a tyrant king Corrupted by this genocide Was a warrior called Raziel But for his faith he was killed Another martyr to their cause Chorus Redeemer, destroyer! Angel of Death Pawn or messiah! Agent of free will Redeemer, destroyer! Reaver of Souls Pawn or messiah! A paradox in time Verse 2 Many years passed him by While he lay inside a crypt Until one day a vampire came And shared with him the thirst for blood And so he lived in servitude Serving Kain for millennia Then things changed Raziel evolved And was thrown into the Abyss Bridge 1 Tumbling, burning, with white hot fire Drowning, plunging, into the depths Unspeakable pain and agony, time ceased to exist Torture and hatred, for what damned him to this hell Bridge 2 An eternity passed, and torment receded Bringing him back from madness Within the abyss, descent had destroyed him And yet, he lived. Verse 3 No longer man or vampire Simply just a wraith reborn Bounded by the Elder God Consuming souls just to survive Sent to hunt; his former brethren And bring them to justice To seek revenge by killing Kain And fulfil his destiny Repeat Chorus

about

The Metal Is Metal! EP is the second mini-album by Chris Ward. It consists of four tracks entitled 'Metal Is Metal!', 'Lethal Devotion', 'Last Man Standing' and 'Redeemer And Destroyer'.

These four songs were compiled on this EP because they are all themed around devotion and loyalty. In 'Metal Is Metal!', a music lover is devoted to his favourite genre; in 'Lethal Devotion', a prison inmate is loyal to someone outside of prison to the point of obsession; in 'Last Man Standing', a soldier is loyal to his superiors' cause in the name of duty; and finally, in 'Redeemer And Destroyer', the main character is devoted to his master's cause and has no other choice.

The final track of this mini-album is of particular relevance to both me and to the overall theme of the EP. The song 'Redeemer And Destroyer' is based upon the video game ‘Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver’ which was released back in 1999. The game, which is by far one of my favourite games of all time, concerns the story of a man known as 'Raziel'. He begins his life as a holy warrior hunting vampires, but through one ordeal or another, ends up becoming what he once fought, and then worse - a wraith that lives to devour the souls of humans and vampires alike.

In each incarnation, Raziel is forced to abide by his masters' wishes (First, the Sarafan order of priests, then his vampire sire Kain, and then finally the Elder God - his master in the underworld) and has no other choice but to obey. Despite these set backs, Raziel is able to pursue a path involving loyalty, devotion betrayal, revenge and finally redemption. It is because of these morals and themes that I admire this game and its sequels; and due to the amazingly scripted dialogue (which I have quoted in the bridge of the song); that I hold this story of Raziel is such high regard. In short, the final track of this EP is meant as a tribute to such a great story. No copyright infringement is intended and all the characters, quoted dialogue and references to the content of the game belong to their respective owners.

Special thanks go to the creators of 'Soul Reaver' for inspiration to write track 4; to Darren Pugh for his assistance with the drums; to Gavin Brady for all his help in the studio; and finally to Mathew Collinge and Kenneth James for their work on the single and album artwork.
